A Consultant to oversee Asian Games Preparations.

The Qatar Equestrian Federation (QE) has appointed a highly experienced British trainer, Christopher Bartle, as an advisor of the Qatar National Eventing team currently camping in the UK in preparation for the September Asian Games to be held in Korea. Christopher is currently National Coach to the German Olympic Three Day Event Team - Winners of Team and Individual Gold medals at the London Olympics in 2012 and the Beijing Olympics in 2008. He was awarded Hon. Fellowship of the British Horse Society in 2001 Dressage Trainer to British Olympic Three Day Event team Atlanta 1996 and Sydney 2000 and received the British Horse Society's Trainers Award in 1995 Christopher has competed internationally in both Dressage and Three Day Eventing. He will be guiding the current trainer, Joss Gray also from the Uk, and the team of riders and horses through the next few months with the aim to gain the necessary qualification for the Asian Games as a the short term objective and to do the same for the 2016 Olympic games a long term objective.

A Detailed Plan

Based on good results achieved by Qatar Eventing riders at the 2006 Asian Games, QEF has prepared an ambitious eventing plan and called upon a number of good riders to go into a training camp in the UK in preparation for the September 2014 Asian Games and the 2016 Olympic Games . A British trainer with good experience and results in eventing was also appointed to supervise the training camp and compete in local competitions inside the UK. The camp was initiated at the last quarter of 2012 with 6 riders and 5 horses. The plan is basically based on the long stay of riders and training in the UK to achieve the target.

Team Activities in 2013

During 2013, riders of the Qatar National Eventing team took part in many local competitions in the UK and some were able to gain qualification for the September 2014 Asian Games in Korea. Horse grooms are also considered an integrated and complementary elements to the national team. The grooms handle horse care and meet all daily horse requirements as well as well preparing horses for training and competitions. Furthermore, their capacities will be further built and they will be provided with skill and horse management certificates through daily monitoring and by exposing them to special training courses.

The Training Camp Currently

Currently, there are 5 riders and 5 horses at the UK training camp under the daily supervision of their British trainer who had been appointed in May 2012. The riders are: - Hadi Al-Marri who in 2103 while riding 'Drum Mousse' achieved a top ten finish in a CNC‎** which is highest achievement of a rider from a gulf state. He also achieved a double clear round at CIC* finishing on his dressage score and 2 top ten finishes in a CNC*. - Ali Al- Marri. (Gold medal winner Doha 2006). He had ridden at BE100 with MER's at that level. New riders for 2014 are ‎Manif Al-Naimi, Hassan Al- Naimi and Saeed Al -Rashdi. There are also 3 horse grooms. ‎Current available horses at the camp are Newsboy Wait and See Graffiti De Lully Acroliance Embregts Drum Mousse.
